This cute little giraffe teether is simply that. She is easy for babies to hold around her long neck. Her ears and legs are good for babies to chew on, hence a teether. Sophie is soft and great for newborns. The only problem is she is way too expensive!

I vote for 3 stars because my son mainly squeeze it as his toy instead of using it as a teether at the beginning (at that time, he prefer to chew on other things, such as his little bear) . And I think this is because the rubber smell is too strong. After almost a month, the rubber smell fainted a little bit, he starts to chew on it.

Sophie is VERY well loved in our house. She's played with frequently by our 10 month old and has been for many months now. Our five year old often uses Sophie to interact with his little sister or to distract her from his toys. She's well made, adorable and gets many compliments.

That said, I use her with some reservation, b/c she's made from natural rubber. On one hand, no synthetic toxins!! However, the more a person is exposed to latex/rubber, the more likely they are to become allergic to it. And, a latex allergy is a lifelong issue, as it's such a common substance. A baby spends a lot of time sucking and chewing on a toy like this and the potential for allergies does concern me. The same goes for pacifiers and bottle nipples (if you need them,) mattresses, etc. made of rubber/latex.

I have a love/hate relationship with Sophie (or any of the similar Vulli toys,) I suppose.

I bought this for my daughter at 5 months. She absolutely loves it. It is easy for her to hold on to and she has chewed on about every inch of it possible. She is very amused by the squeaker too. My toddler is even amused by it. I definately recommend it.
